Visit to the MPLBP Stray Dog Management Centre, Langkawi

Tabung Amanah Sultan Kedah (TASK) conducted a meaningful visit to the MPLBP Stray Dog Management Centre, where the delegation was received by Puan Juliana from Trap, Neuter, Release (TNR) Langkawi. The visit formed part of TASK's ongoing efforts to gain a deeper understanding of the stray dog population management initiatives being implemented in Langkawi.

TNR Langkawi is committed to managing the stray dog population through its sterilisation programme, an essential initiative that promotes a humane and balanced environment for both animals and the community. The programme aims not only to reduce the number of stray dogs but also to safeguard animal welfare while minimising potential public health and safety concerns associated with an uncontrolled stray population.

Also participating in the visit were Tuan Haji Azhan bin Abd Hamid, General Manager of TASK; Tuan Haji Zulkifli bin Abdullah, BCK, Chief Assistant District Officer (Development); Encik Jamani bin Jamaludin, President of the Kedah Village Heads Association; together with TASK staff and volunteers who continue to support this humanitarian initiative.

During the briefing session, Puan Juliana provided a comprehensive overview of the Trap–Neuter–Release (TNR) process, including the capture, sterilisation, recovery, and release of stray dogs back into their original habitats following treatment. She also emphasised the importance of close collaboration between local authorities, non-governmental organisations, and the wider community in ensuring the long-term success of the programme.

With the continued support of TASK and the community, it is hoped that these initiatives will help reduce the stray dog population while raising greater public awareness of responsible pet ownership and animal welfare. TASK's commitment to animal welfare reflects its dedication to building a more compassionate and sustainable environment for both people and animals.
