Tabung Amanah Sultan Kedah (TASK), in collaboration with the Kedah State Health Department, launched an initiative to address the nutritional needs of pregnant women who experienced insufficient weight gain during pregnancy in several districts across Kedah. These districts include Baling, Bandar Baharu, Kota Setar, Kuala Muda, Kubang Pasu, Kulim, Langkawi, Padang Terap, Pendang, Sik, and Yan.
The primary objective of this initiative is to improve maternal nutrition by ensuring that pregnant women achieve healthy weight gain in accordance with recommended healthcare guidelines, from the point of identification until the final weeks of pregnancy (Period of Gestation (POG) ≥ 36 weeks).
As part of the programme, TASK provided essential support through the distribution of full cream milk powder packages, ranging from 2.4 kg to 3.0 kg, to 88 pregnant women. The assistance was implemented between December 2023 and November 2024 in three phases. The first phase involved the distribution of 704 tins of milk powder, followed by 740 tins in the second phase and 668 tins in the third phase. The total allocation for the initiative amounted to RM63,360.00.
This strategic collaboration reflects TASK's commitment to promoting maternal health and safeguarding the well-being of expectant mothers throughout Kedah. By addressing nutritional deficiencies and supporting healthy weight gain during pregnancy, TASK aims to contribute meaningfully to improved maternal and child health outcomes across the State.
